Home Made Balto Cels
Not many people realize but in Balto, no production cells
were made. The only art was animation drawings/sketches, backgrounds and storyboards.
Those who own "a cel" from Balto have
actually paid money to have a cell created and usually mounted on an original background. In
production, what actually happened was the final drawing was scanned on a computer
and digitally coloured. Well to cut this short I basically thought if that’s all that was
done, I could do it too and the results I thought are pretty impressive

I made these by digitally colouring Balto line drawings (not my own art) and in some cases I printed them off onto plastic sheets and mounted them in a frame. They do look really cool like that, infact I made a limited number of them and a few people who visited the site actually own them. I hope they still give them the same pleasure as they did back then!
